Welcome to Cross Roots Counseling, LLC. Dr. Vanessa Lopez Viets is the sole practitioner at Cross Roots Counseling, LLC, a Christian faith-based organization. She is a clinical psychologist who provides individual therapy focusing on a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, grief, alcohol problems and adjustment challenges. Dr. Lopez Viets enjoys working with adults and adolescents. She provides therapy services in English or Spanish.
Dr. Lopez Viets will offer a brief telephone consultation to determine whether her services might be appropriate for a potential client. If therapy services seem clinically appropriate, she will schedule an initial appointment to obtain relevant information and to set goals for therapy. She sees most clients in short-term therapy depending on treatment goals. Dr. Lopez Viets has office hours from 8 am to 4 pm Mondays through Wednesdays.
Dr. Lopez Viets attended Claremont McKenna College, graduating in 1993 with Honors in Psychology. She then pursued her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the University of New Mexico and graduated in 2000. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship at the University of California San Diego and VA Consortium in 1999 with specialization in substance abuse and mental illness as well as mood disorders.
Dr. Lopez Viets completed her postdoctoral training at the University of New Mexico’s Center on Alcohol, Substance Use & Addictions (CASAA) in 2001. She continued working at CASAA in both clinical and research roles focused on project development and problem gambling.
Dr. Lopez Viets worked as a Primary Care Behavioral Health Clinician at Presbyterian Medical Group from 2009 to 2022. She provided consultations and short-term therapy to adult and pediatric patients with a wide array of clinical issues.
